Playing Field and Meadows

 

The playing field and adjacent meadows form Saxlingham’s recreation grounds.  They are located on Church Hill, just south of the church and school - location on google maps

The playing field facilities include a children’s playground; cricket club; bowls club; scout & guide headquarters; social club and meadows conservation area.  Brief descriptions and/or primary contact points follow.

Football

The football pitches are used by a grassroots Saturday adult club playing in Division 4 of the Central and South Norfolk League and by Tasburgh Youth FC.  Contact Stuart Purling stuartpurling@hotmail.com​

 

Scout & Guides

The 43rd Saxlingham Nethergate Scout Group consists of all the Scout sections catering for young people from the age of 5 through 18 years. For further detail, please see their Facebook page 

 

The guiding units covering Saxlingham Nethergate and the surrounding villages are currently meeting in Stoke Holy Cross Community Hall on Tuesdays in termtime. There are 4 very active units:

  • 1st High Ash Rainbows, 

  • 1st High Ash Brownies, 

  • 1st High Ash Guides and 

  • 1st High Ash Rangers

Saxon Club

The Playing Field hosts the popular Saxon Club, a licenced social club with bar, Sky Sports, pool and darts. The club is normally open Mon 7.30-10pm, Thurs-Fri 7.30pm-1am, Sat 4pm-1am, Sun 12-10pm and during sports matches on the Playing Field. Further details from Stuart Purling stuartpurling@hotmail.com

Meadows

Saxlingham Meadows provides seven acres of woodland and meadow areas including a community orchard. The area is managed to provide a peaceful area with picnic tables and a small wildlife habitat. There is a wide variety of tree and shrub species, wildflowers, owl and bat boxes.

​

This educational pack was prepared by Sarah Long and is offered as a means of welcome to all visitors to Saxlingham Meadows.
