Notice of election

So, what does a parish council do?

It is the third tier of local government after the County and District Council. In Saxlingham Nethergate the parish council is responsible for the allotments, play area, War Memorial and various items of street furniture including litter bins, dog bins, grit bins and benches. The Parish Council also has a significant role in making sure that the views of the parish are heard.

What is a parish councillor responsible for?

A parish councillor effectively represents the parish. They will champion the causes which relate to the interests and sustainability of the area and will campaign for improvements in the quality of life of those living in, working in, or visiting the area. A parish councillor will be supported by training and development to help them to fulfil the requirements of their role.

If you would like to know more about the role feel free to contact one of the existing councillors or the clerk.
